திருக்குறள் மெய்ப்பொருளுரை - பெருஞ்சித்திரனார்

"Thiruvalluvar, guided by advice, had the address to select three topics of general interest and to avoid entirely everything that might be disputed or might he offensive to any of every sect, adding to this precaution great ingenuity of thought, and peculiar beauty and elegance of language, he produced a work united every saffrage, and stands confessed even to the present day, to be the best and chief of all compositions in the polished dialect.
"Thiruvalluvar . . . whose message is intended not merely for their own age or country but for all time for all man-kind. He has given to the world a work to which, in perfection of form, profundity of thought, nobleness of sentiment, and earnestness of moral purpose. Very few books outside the grand scriptures of humanity can at all be compared. Indeed his work is culogised by the Tamil people as the Tamil Veda, the universal Veda, the later Veda, the Divine Book."
இவை போலும் இன்னும் ஏராளமான சிறப்பியல் குறிப்புகளையும் பெருமை மொழிகளையும் திருக்குறளுக்குப் பேரறிஞர்கள் பலரும் கூறியுள்ளனர். பெருநூலாகவே விரியும் அவற்றை இங்கெடுத்துக் கூறுதல் இயலாததும் தேவையில்லாததுமாகும். எனவே மிகச் சிற்சிலவே எடுத்துக் காட்டுக்காக இங்குக் காட்டப்பெற்றன என்க. ஆர்வமுள்ளவர்கள் அவ்வவற்றை ஆங்காங்குத் தேடிக் கண்டுணர்ந்துகொள்வார்களாக.
மொத்தத்தில், மிகவும் சுருங்கக் கூறுவதானால், திருக்குறள் தூய்மையான நீர் ஓடிக்கொண்டிருக்கும் அகன்று ஆழ்ந்த ஓர் ஆறு போன்றது.
- - அந்நீரை அருந்துகின்றவர், பலர்;
- - அதில் குளித்து மூழ்கிக் களிப்பவர்கள், பலர்;
- - அதை மொண்டு கொண்டு போய் விற்றுப் பணம் ஈட்டிப் பிழைப்பவர்கள், பலர்;
- - அதில், தம்தம் அழுக்குகளை வெளுத்துக் கொள்பவர்கள்,பலர்;
- - அதில், தங்கள் கை கால்களைக் கழுவித் துாய்மைசெய்து கொள்வார், பலர்;
