The Philosophical and Metaphysical outlook of Thiruvalluvar Thiru A. THIRUNAVUKKARASU Poompuhar Thiruvalhlhuvar was undoubtedly one of the great geniuses of the world. He is the venerated sage and law giver. His Thirukkutalh is one of the highest and purest expression of human thought. He formulates soverign morality and absolute reason. He is perfect in thought, in language, in poetry, and in the austere metaphysical contemplation of the great mysteries of the Divine Nature. In regard to its philosophico-theological system taught in Kutalh, Hindus claim that its verses favour their dogmas with reference to the terms like Malarmicai Eekinan and ThaamarakkaNNan. By the term “Malarmicai Eekinaan”, Jains especially consider him their own. By the term Atavaazhi Buddhists claim Kutalh as belonging to their sect. Rev. G. U. Pope says, “Thiruvalhlhuvar's teachings is just as the study of Hinduism in the light of Cangaraa’s reforms, combined with that of the Jain system in its later developments and of the Bhagavat Gita might have produced”. He fixes the author's period between A. D, 800 and 1000.
