9. நாடகம் என்பது சமஸ்கிருதச் சொல். சமஸ்கிருத டிராமா தென்னாட்டில் அறிமுகம் ஆவதற்கு முன்னர்ப் பாட்டும் உரையும் இடம் பெறா வெறும் மெய்ப்பாட்டுக் காட்சியாகவே அது இருந்தது.
“The word used is tha sanskrit Nataka, the first we of the word in Tamil poetry; It probably meant dumb-show, which was the form of drama prevalent in south India before it came in contect with Sanskrit drama.” Page : 349.

11. வெண்ணியில், ஏழு குறுநிலத்தலைவர்களோடு, இரு பெரு வேந்தர்களும் தோல்வியுற்றது, ஓரளவு உண்மையொடு பட்ட காதுவழிச் செய்தி ஆதல்கூடும். ஆனால் கரிகாலன் சமகாலப்புலவர் எவரும், அப்போர் குறித்துக் குறிப்பிட்டார் அல்லர்.

12. கொற்றப்பந்தர், பட்டி மண்டபம், தோரண வாயில் ஆகியவற்றைக் கரிகாலன் சிலரிடமிருந்து பரிசுப் பொருட்களாகப் பெற்றிருக்க இயலும். ஆனால், அவன் இமயம்வரை படையெடுத்துச் சென்றான் என்பது பிற்காலக் கட்டுக்கதையே.
