Maanickavaachagar means he who takes after this name to his ruby-like utterances. His poems form an autobiographical book of mystic theology. This great manual of rapturous songs, especially the third part of it, deals with the love story of the human bride, the saint, with the divine bride-groom, God-Civan. Though it is his story of love sung in simple but forceful poetry it deals with the devotional and spiritual experiences of the saint.
