Decad: 17 Annaippaththu (Decad of the Mother) Sub-title: Aaththma-Pooranam (Soul's Fulfilment) Abstract: In this decad the bride in love discloses her secret love for Civan to her mother by a series of exclamations: Oh 1 Mother My eternal bride-groom is He He is exceedingly beautiful. He is (here) even in my mind. He Who dwells in my mind is the Southerner, the Bliss! (17:3). She reveals that He, enslaving her wandering mind makes love to her. (17:5) She describes Him fully; that His form is rosy-red covered with white ash smearing sandal paste (17:8). He wears a wreath of Thaili flowers and Aruhu grass. His arms are long. He has dense locks adorned with flowers of Cassia fistula, Datura fastuosa and the leaves of Aegle marmelos and decked with the new moon.” She also discloses that He, wearing a cap of a king and riding a steed, steals her heart (17:7). She questions why her mind pines for Him on seeing His ornament-a swaying snake and robe, the skin. She grieves saying that He is a Partner of a Dame and yet He in an ascetic's guise has come abegging. Above all she wonders at His stay in her mind and enjoys Him fully! Abiding in her heart He melts her and she feels that He causes the flow of never-drying tears of Bliss(17:2). This ecstatic experience is perhaps the fulfilment of her ambitious soul.
