Decad: 37 Pīdīththa paththu (Decad of the Grasp) Subtitle: Muththi-k-kalappu-vuraiththal (Relating the union in deliverance) (Sung at Thirupperunthurai) Pidiththa = catching hold of or grasping, paththu = decad; Muththi = deliverance, Kalappu = union; Vuraiththal = saying or relating. This decad of the tenacious grasp is made up of 10 verses of four lines each in Aasiriya Viruththam metre. “Oh King of those above ! Oh unexcludingly pervading One in meditation 1 Oh Medicine Who, ripening newly in filthy me and making all my generation Your own and made me live eternally, terminating worldly life Oh Certitude of ultimate finding of scriptures Oh jewelled Feet of renown Oh my wealth ! Oh our very own great Lord Civan On behalf of all of us I have caught You firmly. Where will You at Your pleasure appear henceforth to bestow grace?” (37: 1) “Oh King of the heavenly ones Who rides with delight unceasingly on the bulls Oh true Reality Who owns me ridden with Karma Oh God Who enslaved and saved thereby Your slave from being degraded to the last minute by lying entirely within the very worm - infested nest which is growing old and turning to utter dust without being freed from stench Oh great sea of Mercy I have unremittingly caught You firmly. Where will You at Your pleasure appear henceforth to bestow grace?” (37:2) ア17
