The justice of the king consists in not being content with the information of spies but endeavouring to ascertain the truth in person, concealed and unattended in secret places ; and in hesitating to act before mature deliberation, knowing that the discovery of the truth is not an easy task; but to remain deaf to repeated petitions of distress is not doing justice. —T.
