On perusing your Áovel on Mr. P. M. MADOORAY PILLAY of Rangoon, I was obliged to call to mind the several A oveis, I have read which enabled—me to master one of the Pancha Ilakkanams of Tamil, to which this species of poems belongs, and the happy coincidence of the qualities that characterize the hero you have so aptly chosen. I must thank you for the way in which you have emulated me in honouring such a worthy gentleman by your invaluable poem supplementing the honour I have, for 2^ part, done to him by my poem entitled
