P R E F A C E Some time back, a friend of mine asked me to write a Scenario for a Tamil Talkie of the story of Nallathanga!. After I sketched out the Scenes, he gave up the idea. After having spent some time in thinking out the plot, I thought I might as well write it as a drama; hence the present work, I have made several changes in the story. I have given a new reason for the almost unnatural act of Nallathangal throwing all her children into a well. How far these changes would satisfy my readers, it is for them to judge. As an Author's Copyright in his books lasts for his lifetime and 50 years after his death, persons desirous of staging this new version of the story of Nallathangal (as well as any other drama by me) will have to take my permission during my life-time, & thereafter for the statutory period that of my son P.
